Belgian Malinois Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

AVAILABLE - URGENT PORTER (Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd) Only $25 Adoption! This adoption will be done through, & backed by Safe Haven Animal Rescue of AZ, but you are adopting straight off the euthanasia list of a big shelter. The low adoption fee is to encourage you to step up & take action! Time is of the essence. If you are interested, act now! Below is more info, please read EVERYTHING. Serious inquires only! NOTES FROM THE SHELTER ABOUT THIS DOG: Germ Shepherd mix; Red and White; Neutered; 1 YR 38.60 LBS I came to the shelter as a stray. MEDICAL: Porter does have some healing wounds on his front paws. BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: ... (Read More)Porter was found as a stray with minor injuries. He has tolerated all medical exams. When evaluated, he was in his kennel, whale eyed, ears down when handler approached. When handler knelt down, he accepted treats through fence. Alarm barked when handler stood to open the door. When handler offered leash, he became excited, soft body, tail wagging, and was able to leash easily at the door. He sought attention from handler, leaning against handler's legs, tolerated all petting and handling, sought additional attention from handler by tilting his head back to look at handler with soft, sustained eye contact. Had tolerated some petting from other handler and had been taking treats from her as she sat on the ground. When other handler stood up, dog alarm barked and lunged, stiff body. Handlers tested him with moving objects such as rolling chair, watched with interest, head tilted, brow furrowed. With sudden movements people made, he became alert and reactive for a few seconds, then would retreat and seek attention from handler. When other people in the room would sit in a chair and stand, he reacted with soft growls and some barking but no lunging. Main handler stood up and he would stiffen with small growl but then retreat. Walked back to kennel and gave treats upon leaving, did not alarm bark when handler stood outside of kennel. Because he is fearful of sudden movements, he would do best in an environment where he can gradually become used to unfamiliar people, does warm up quickly. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Porter came to us as an injured stray. We do not have any previous information about his past. PORTER WILL NEED TO FIND RESCUE PLACEMENT BY 5PM ON 3/27/17 Adoption fee (from Safe Haven) is only $25 & includes: - Initial Vet check - Spay/Neuter surgery - Up to date on Vaccinations - Voucher for a future Free office visit to the Vet - 50% off any Optimum Wellness Plan - 30 days of free pet insurance (in case something comes up after adoption) - Available Paperwork: Spay/Neuter records, Vaccination records, Vet records, Microchip records, Recommendation list, etc... - Continued Support: Safe Haven will be there for the lifetime of your adopted pet. If you ever have questions or concerns, We will always be there to help. Our goal is for you & your pet to live happily ever after! HOW SAFE HAVENS E-LIST ADOPTION PROGRAM WORKS: - This pet has NOT been saved & is in danger of being euthanized at the shelter on the deadline posted. - The shelter will not allow me to have potential adopters come down & view the pets. This pet is in an area only accessible to rescue groups. - You must be 100% SURE you want to adopt this pet & commit to adopting without meeting them first (I know, scary, but keep reading it gets better...). - Fill out an application & be screened before the deadline so I can let the shelter know we have a home for this pet. For a dog: http://www.adoptapet.com/Safe-Haven/adoption-application/ - Once you get an approval e-mail, rest easy & follow the instructions. - I will then pull the pet off the list, if your pet is marked as 'spayed' or 'neutered' in the shelter notes, plan to get your new family member either that day or the next day. Pick-up times are 9-5 every day of the week - If your pet is marked as 'male' or 'female' in the shelter notes, then that means that they need to be fixed. So plan to get your new family member within 1-5 days. I will keep you updated & notify you when they are out of surgery, etc... - After adoption, I will be available for help with training if you need it - You can return the pet to Safe Haven if for some reason it is not working out. All I ask is that you give it a good 30 days before making that decision. (so see, it is not as scary as it sounds) This is the same way we do things with people who have fostered for us, only this is for people who are looking to adopt) * Please note: Most pets that come from the big shelters get upper respiratory infections there. It is very common & is NOT serious. It is a virus that just needs to run it's course. Equivalent to you or I having a common cold. A dog is only contagious to another dog. Cat to cat. It is advised that you keep them separate for the first week. It is also STRONGLY ADVISED that you crate your new pet if they are fearful , need to recuperate from su (Less)

Animal ID: MollyMolly (female)

Belgian Malinois Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Molly Wants to Start the New Year in a New Home 4-year-old, medium, female, Belgian Malinois mix Good with other dogs: Large dogs only Good with cats: No Good with children: Yes What a sweet and funny girl we have in Molly. She's got such a fun-loving personality. Molly loves people and is very sweet. Even though she's 4 years old, we think she was likely forced to live in a kennel all the time when she was younger. She's starting to learn her manners, but sadly, nobody took the time to give this girl the benefit of positive training. Molly would do well as an only dog, but she does get along with most large dogs. However, no cats or ... (Read More)small dogs for this girl, she has a pretty high prey drive being a Belgian Malinois mix. This also means that Molly will need a job. Mals are very intelligent and active dogs and need 'work' to keep their minds and bodies busy. So her adopters must be prepared to run, walk, play and/or hike with Molly. At her heart, Molly is a girl that just loves to have fun. She loves to play ball and is already housebroken and uses the doggy door. She's also fine being alone in the house and is not destructive at all. If you can open your heart and home to pretty girl Molly, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application. (Less)

Animal ID: JefkeJefke (male)

Belgian Malinois Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Need a Running Partner? Jefke is Your Guy 4-year-old, male, large, Belgian Malinois mix Good with other dogs: Selective Good with children: No Good with cats: No We rescued Jefke from the local shelter many months ago. He's a good looking Belgian Malinois mix of about 4 years old. He took an extended staycation with one of our wonderful fosters, but due to her work schedule and extended hours, he had to come back to the rescue. He was very protective of his home and didn't welcome the dogsitters with open paws, so this may be an issue that needs to be worked through. He is a VERY active boy, and particularly loves the ball. He ... (Read More)was running almost every day with his foster, and he gets so excited when he thinks he's about to go on a run. He actually tries to put his own head through the slip lead! He knows several commands, knows how to use a dog door, loves toys, does well on a leash and is housetrained and crate trained. Jefke will need to be placed with a strong handler with some breed experience. %A0We are looking for a home with no children or cats, as he may give chase. He may be OK with another dog given a proper introduction. If you have an active life and you think you have what it takes to bring Jefke into your home and heart, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will not schedule meet & greets without an approved app on file. %A0Here's the link: %A0 http://savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-18-00192Lobos (male)

Belgian Malinois Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lobos is a 3 year old German Shepherd Mix who is very energetic and has a lot of love to give. We caught Lobos before he was turned in to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. He was absolutely terrified and his owner was dragging him in on a rope. For an hour, he hid behind Casey, owner of SAIL Rescue, and tried to crawl into her lap the whole time she drove him home. It took a long time to get Lobos (his original name) to come out of his shell and come out of his shell he did! He is a typical German Shepherd and needs constant exercise and a firm hand. He is not a typical GSD in the fact that he LOVES other dogs. Small dogs are his ... (Read More)favorite! He is good friends with our little terrier Whiskey and they LOVE to play! He loves playing fetch, anything he can find, he'll fetch it for you! Lobos must be homed with an experienced handler and needs some extended training with someone familiar with the breed. He does NOT like being told what to do, so dedication, repetition and a firm hand are key. Lobos is potty trained, crate trained, prong collar trained and walks well on a leash. He loves to cuddle and would do best in a home with no children until he receives more training. Lobos is neutered, current on Rabies, 4-1 and Bordatella vaccines and is microchipped. His adoption fee is $100. (Less)
